Helplessness is such a bad feeling that leaves someone bare and there is nothing you can do about it. I would say being helpless is nothing more than being paralyzed.
Why she has to be helpless at every point in her life? Why she cannot take the decision of her life? Why she has to sacrifice her love, dignity and pride? Why she cannot have respect for her feelings? Why she cannot express what is she going through? Why? Why? Why?
We are living in a society where men has right to do anything they want without any compulsions, restrictions and obligations. Men have a freedom of speech and no one is there to stop them from what they are doing. Girls face discrimination everywhere in the world. Starting from a place where she is born and to the place where she works, everyone points finger at them no matter what. Millions of the women throughout the world live in conditions in which they are deprived of their basic human rights for no other reason than their gender.
If we just look around the world and I’m sure you will find many places where women are treated like they have got no existence. Combatants in conflicts, like in Sierra Leone, Kosovo, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Afghanistan, and Rwanda, have raped women as a weapon of war without consequences. Men in Pakistan, South Africa, Peru, Russia, and Uzbekistan beat women in their home at astounding rates. Women from Ukraine, Moldova, Nigeria, the Dominican Republic, Burma, and Thailand are bought and sold, trafficked to work in forced prostitution. In Guatemala, South Africa, and Mexico, women’s ability to enter and remain in the work force is obstructed. In the U.S., students discriminate against and attack girls in school who are lesbian, bi-sexual, or transgender, or do not conform to male standards of female behavior. Women in Morocco, Jordan, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia face government-sponsored discrimination that renders them unequal before the law.
Abuses against women are relentless, systematic, and widely tolerated, if not explicitly condoned. Violence and discrimination against women are global social epidemics. We live in a world in which women do not have basic control over what happens to their bodies. Millions of women and girls are forced to marry with men they do not desire. Husbands and other male family members obstruct or dictate women’s access to different sources that are easily accessible to males.
Every man needs to ask themselves why women have to put up with all these circumstances? Why is it so hard to treat women just like another human being? Why do we need to express our masculinity by putting them down? As a matter of fact there is no huge difference but anatomical structure between male and female yet other aspects of life are same for both genders so why women have to put up with all these?
I would like to give women my words “You are a woman and just like any other person in this world, you have every other right to be treated with respect and integrity. If you have dreams to accomplish but people tell you otherwise, stand up and go forth with your head held high.”
“Woman must not accept; she must challenge. She must not be awed by that which has been built up around her; she must reverence that woman in her which struggles for expression.” — Margaret Sanger
